The Tripod in Phasmophobia is a useful accessory for the Video Camera. Using the Tripod can speed up the deployment of the Video Cameras as well as providing better views in many cases.
It is not necessary to use the Tripod in Phasmophobia, but it can be very helpful. When preparing to take a Video Camera in on a Tripod, I tend to turn on the Video Camera before I pick up the Tripod. That way I can just walk in, stand where I want to place it, and look in the direction I want it to face. It is then a simple matter of dropping it. The Video Camera will then be on, where I want it, and facing in the direction I want. Sometimes I have to pick it up and place it a few times to get it just right, but it definitely beats trying to place it without a Tripod. You can also drop it and run if something happens. It can still work well enough to Spot Ghost Orbs.
